Student Guidelines
Arrive a few minutes early--especially new students, please arrive 10-15 minutes early. (We do not encourage late arrival to class. It is not safe for you to skip warming up and it is disruptive to the students who have already begun).
The recommended minimum age for all classes is at least 11 years of age.
Wear comfortable clothing.
Please do not wear heavy fragrances to class as some people are allergic.
Please bring a Yoga Mat (you can buy one from us or rent one from us).
Come with an empty stomach.
Silence cell phones and pagers.
Take off your shoes and socks upon entering the studio; place all your belongings in the cubbies.
Find a spot on the floor, stretch and warm-up on your own, take a moment to be still and breathe.
Be patient with yourself, honor your body; focus on your needs; yoga is non-competitive.
Move with intelligence and intention.
Respect those around you; yoga is a quiet practice. Abusive comments and ridiculing what others hold sacred is not allowed.
Let the teacher know if you have any injuries or challenges that could impact your yoga practice.
Progress in yoga is discovered within, postures should not hurt, pay attention to your limitations.
Be open to new sensations, make sure you can breathe properly in each pose.
Make yoga a priority, find time to practice at home as well. Yoga could be as simple as practicing conscious breathing--keep it simple.
The biggest obstacle in getting to yoga class is that life happens, and it is a challenge to make time for ourselves. In this busy, fast moving world we find ourselves over-extended and exhausted. Consider yoga an investment in yourself. We recommend getting to class 2-3 times a week if possible in order to experience optimum benefits. However, some yoga is better that none at all. So, even if you can only come once a week, it is supremely beneficial and devoting even a small amount of time to yourself this way will revive, refocus, and refuel your body.
