Please join us for an evening of Reiki at the Brentwood Yoga Center.
Reiki is an ancient healing art that uses universal energy to help people regain their health and well-being. It is a precise method of connecting the universal energy that is all around us with the body’s innate powers of healing and relaxation. It works holistically with the body, mind, and spirit and helps the body find balance so that it can begin to heal itself. It reduces stress, physical and emotional pain, relaxes, renews, and promotes mental clarity, spiritual growth and creativity. It also awakens the spiritual space within to open your heart and mind for meditation. Reiki teaches that dis-ease is not separate from the body; it is the body out of balance.
A Reiki circle is a wonderful way to connect with like-minded people in a comfortable setting to practice your Reiki skills and receive a healing. As a practitioner, you will have the opportunity to deepen your practice and connect with Reiki friends. As a receiver, you will be fully clothed, lying down on a massage table while the practitioner uses a series of hand positions on the body. It will be an opportunity for all to deepen your connection to universal energy. The Reiki healing circle is open to all who have had Reiki training and anyone interested in experiencing it. The healing circle will be held at the Brentwood Yoga Center, which is located at 8650-H Brentwood Blvd., Brentwood CA 94513. The circle begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m.
March 18th (Sunday) 5pm A free film event:
Yoga Woman: Never underestimate the power of inner peace.
Yoga was brought to the west from India by a lineage of male teachers. Now there’s a generation of women who are leading the way. They’re strong, they’re inspiring, and they’re radically changing people’s lives. From the busy streets of Manhattan to the dusty slums of Kenya, from the golden beaches of Australia to the serene piazzas of Italy, YOGAWOMAN uncovers a global phenomenon that has changed the face of yoga forever.
A quiet revolution brews in yoga studios, hospitals and living rooms around the globe. In record numbers women are discovering their own strength, vitality, peace and power through yoga. Reclaiming this ancient spiritual path from its traditionally male form, the result is a radical transformation of modern yoga as we know it.
Led by a new generation of dynamic female teachers, this “new” yoga replaces the male-centered, more rigid style with a distinctly feminine practice that honors intuition, family, flow, connection, community, activism and the cyclical nature of women’s lives.
YOGAWOMAN is a groundbreaking film that captures this fascinating time of awakening female power.
Through rich personal stories, YOGAWOMAN reveals how yoga has utterly transformed the lives of millions of over-stimulated, overscheduled multitasking modern women. With vivid detail and poignancy, YOGAWOMAN shows how women have embraced yoga for easing health conditions like breast cancer, infertility, heart disease, anxiety and depression. A, and given a lifeline to women in prison, cancer abuse survivors and those struggling with body image or eating disorders.
YOGAWOMAN bears witness to millions of women who have integrated yoga into their daily lives so they are happier, healthier and more fulfilled - allowing them to give back to others with full hearts and creative minds.
In intimate interviews with the world’s leading experts, many who have become worldwide icons with rock-star status, YOGAWOMAN captures how these teachers have blazed a new trail for women. World-renowned teachersappearing in YOGAWOMAN include Patricia Walden, Sharon Gannon, Shiva Rea, Angela Farmer, Cyndi Lee, Seane Corn, Donna Farhi and forward-thinking medical professionals such as integrative physician Dr. Sara Gottfried and world-renowned research scientist Dr. Shirley Telles. YOGAWOMAN is the first film of its kind to bring together these luminaries, distilling their wisdom and spreading their message of peace and empowerment for the benefit of women everywhere

The chanting is call and response. You don't need to know the chants in advance to participate. No background in chanting is necessary. The chants are ancient mantras performed with a western musical influence. All are welcome. Bring percussive musical instruments, if you like.
"Kirtan is for all people. There are no masters of Kirtan, no experts, no teachers, no advanced students, no beginners. The practice itself is the teacher, guiding us to ourselves. Kirtan teaches itself by allowing us to enter into a mystery world — a world where all the logic of our minds, all the conditioning and learning are left outside — and we allow ourselves to expand into the mystery. And in this mystery, we create a temple inside of our hearts, a place of refuge, a place of love, a place of being, a place of sanctity… whatever we need." –Jai Uttal
