Look who's teaching the curriculum this year!
The Advanced Yoga Studies (AYS) program has been specifically designed to exceed the 200-hour Teacher Training program standards for registration with the Yoga Alliance (www.YogaAlliance.org).
The total program, which includes both Sessions I and II, comprises over 200 total hours of instruction in training, teaching methodology, yoga techniques, yogic philosophy and anatomy.
“Session I” begins on January 21, 2012 and ends on May 25, 2012 .
“Session II” beings on June 1, 2012 and ends September 26, 2012.
This is the third year the program will be offered at Brentwood Yoga Center.
Brentwood Yoga Center is a 200-hr Yoga Teaching School – registered with Yoga Alliance. (www.yogaalliance.org)

ADDITIONAL CLASS SCHEDULE
Students who intend to complete the full course must take an additional weekly with Sandy throughout both Sessions I and II (Total of 48 hours of additional
instruction).
Note: This additional weekly class must be taught by the Director of Brentwood Yoga Center, Sandy Carmellini and is included in the tuition and considered part of the curriculum.
Any additional classes other than the Advanced Studies curriculum can be purchased separately at the regular public rates.
ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION PROCESS –
The Advanced Yoga Studies Program is offered to those students who wish to gain a deeper understanding of Yoga philosophy, principles and the practice.
Minimum eligibility is at least one year of dedicated yoga practice, a completed application (see attached), and personal interview and approval by the Director of
Brentwood Yoga Center, Sandy Carmellini.
Brentwood Yoga Center reserves sole right to accept or reject any application for the program.
TUITION & REGISTRATON –
Tuition for the entire 32-week Program is $2500.00. Tuition includes all classes on the schedule (including the additional weekly class with the Director of the program, Sandy Carmellini).
Entire tuition is due no later than November 15, 2011. A minimum deposit is $600 holds your space in the program (pending approval of the Director of Brentwood Yoga Center).
CANCELLATION POLICY -
Cancellation before October 15, 2011 - A full refund of all tuition paid (less $100.00 administration fee) will be given.
Cancellation on or after October 15, 2011 - A 50% refund of all tuition paid will be refunded if we are unable to re-fill your attendance with another qualified student. If you are able to re-fill your space with another qualified student after October 15, you will receive a full refund of all tuition paid (less a $100 administration fee).
PRIMARY PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS:
Sandy Carmellini - Owner, Director of Brentwood Yoga Center. She is a graduate from the Advanced Studies Teacher Program at the Yoga Room in Berkeley (a three-year training program with over 1000 hours of training). She has been teaching yoga since 1998. She has held many yoga retreats and workshops in California, Hawaii, Sedona, Mexico and Italy! Her 18 years of experience as a corporate facilitator adds to her passion for training and educating others. Sandy’s background in dance enhances her teaching style where she sequences movement and breath while focusing on detail. Her instruction is accepting and fun and very educational. Classes are taught primarily in the Iyengar method which focuses on creating healthy movement and balance in the body by using props (if necessary) to allow comfort and stability in poses.
Kate Coughlin – 500hr –ERYT - is the Director of Downtown Yoga and is the acting Director of all Downtown Yoga teaching programs. She received her B.S. degree in Dance from Evergreen State University in Washington in 1972. Kate spent much of the 70’s traveling between Hawaii, Alaska, Seattle and Europe. During this time she was fortunate to meet and be touched by Swami Muktananda, Indra Devi and Oscar Ichazo. Kate performed and taught modern dance in Seattle prior to moving to California in 1985.
In 1989, Kate developed the Yoga Program at Stanford University. She taught hundreds of students at Stanford from 1989 until spring of 2000 when she moved to Pleasanton, California with her husband and twin daughters. Kate founded Downtown Yoga in March of 2002. She is a graduate of Erich Schiffman’s Teacher Training program. Kate continues to develop her practice by taking pranayama and asana classes from Donald Moyer at the Yoga Room in Berkeley, California.
Jim Coughlin-200hr -ERYT: Jim was introduced to yoga in 1967 at the age of 10. He began practicing yoga in earnest in 1993. Jim has traveled to India extensively to expand his knowledge of yoga with his teacher Arun H.S.. Jim teaches yoga with a
sense of humor and grounded in the fundamentals of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, and the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar.
Weekend workshops may be taught by guest teachers, but only those that qualify as experienced yoga teachers through the Yoga Alliance criteria.
Some weekday classes may be taught by qualified Brentwood Yoga Center's teaching staff.

The program will be an 8 month program, and will meet/exceed the yoga alliance 200 hour requirements.
NOTE: This program can also be taken in "modules."
You can take the weekends and/or the weekdays separately and accumulate hours towards fulfilling the required Yoga Alliance. This can be done over the course of 2 or more years, which can make the time commitment easier as well as financially--as you would just pay as you attend.
